Description
Adelaide is glad of the improvement of the state of Lady Ely's eyes. Following her doctor's advice, Adelaide will spend the winter abroad where the warmer climate will prevent her to fall ill. She thanks Lady Ely for inquiring after Adelaide's sister: she is well, and her oldest son, who was very ill, has recovered; the whole family is now in Naples.
Adelaide confesses to be living of memories of the past and hopes she will be left spending the rest of her days quietly.
