great a responsibility to my own satisfaction and this continued until The Countess of Mansfield resigned the Deputy Rangership of Richmond New Park to the Prince Regent-- [[underline]] I had no Salary whatever for this Superintendent [[/underline]] during the several years it was that confided to me--or any perquisites whatever, but I felt myself well repaid by this flattering confidence & employment in this Park of which [[underline]] strictly speaking The King was His own Ranger-- [[/underline]] When the settled continuance of His majesty's afflicting Illness unhappily kept Him within the limits of Windsor Castle The Royal Parks among many other concerns came more immediately under the control of the Prince Regent, who begun considerable changes in Windsor Park-- [[underline]] The Countess of Mansfield's kind & respectful Intentions towards The Prince Regent [[/underline]] had for some time [[underline]] inclined Her ^ [[addition]] to [[/addition]] consider, [[/underline]] that if from possible circumstances His Royal Highness had any wish to have Richmond Park at his free disposal [[underline]] She ought not to be in his Way. [[/underline]] In consequence in the year 1813 [[underline]] Lady Mansfield wrote to The Earl of Liverpool authorizing Him to make an offer from Her, of The Deputy Rangership of Richmond ^ [[addition]] Park [[/addition]] to His Royal Highness The Prince Regent, [[/underline]] by Her resignation of that Appointment.
