Admiral Boscawan in August --1759-- obtained an important victory over the French under the command of Mde la Clue, off Cape Lagoes and four Ships struck their colours to the English-- This victory was soon followed by another still more important--Admiral Hawke who had blockaded Brest all Summer-- was driven from this Station by distress of weather--Mde Conflans who commanded the French Fleet took the opportunity to slip out of Breast with twenty one ships of the line-- The English admiral went immediately in pursuit and overtook them Qucberon Bay
