[[underline]] James the 1st 1603 [[/underline]] During the whole reign of Elizabeth the eyes of Men had been employed in search of a successor, there appeared none but the King of Scots who had a just claim or any pretenscions to the Throne--He was great-- Grandson to Margaret eldest Daughter of-- Henry the 8th who married James the 4th-- King of Scots, who was Father to James the 5th whos Daughter Mary Queen of Scots was Mother to James the 1st King of England. The Kings journey from Edinburgh to-- London caused all ranks of people to flock togather from all quarters, but James hated bustle and through far from disliking flattery yet was still fonder of tranquillity and ease, he therefore issued a Proclamation forbidding this
