on her death bed, was seized with remorse of conscience hearing obtained a viset from the Queen-- revealed to her the fatal secret--The Queen astonished with this incident broke from her and trenceforth res [[addition]] ^i [[/addition]] gned herself over to the deepest & most incurable melancholy she even refused food and sustenance her end was vesibly approaching and the councel being assembled they sent the Keeper admerril and secretary to know her will, with regard to her successor she answered with a faint voice, that as she had held a regal sceptre, she desired no other than a Royal successor--Cecil requesting her to explain herself, she said that she would-- have her nearest Kinsman the King of Scots. Her voice was soon after left her and she expired gently in the seventeenth year of her age, and forty-fifth of her reign--Her qualities as a Sovereign though with some consederable exceptions are the object of undesputed applause and approbation--
