Weymouth August. 1794. He has learned to write both French & English, to read with tolerable ease, but not to understand the Sense of every word, & to explain by Signs His thoughts with great ease - The Abbe says that in about 3 Years He is sure that He will with great ease learn Mathematics, & that the Child is very intelligent He also said that Religion was the last thing He taught these People, for as all explanation must be given by signs, by beginning it to early it conveys confused Ideas to them.
