Gardiner, should not risk agitation as much, as one Physician going in of an Evening with Dr. Willis to The King, to feel his pulse, and talk with Him for a few minutes - [[underline]] Thursday Febry: 5th: [[/underline]] The King is reported to have had 5 hours quite sleep this Night - The daily & long walks which H.My: has taken of late, & being much out in the Air, have certainly much improved his bodily health, & contributed to his having better nights rest, than he has had for some time past - Doctor Willis has been of late induced to sit with H.My. about an hour, before He goes to bed, with the view of putting Him in good humour at this particular time, & by which He calculates on his obtaining a more quiet night This Morning H.My. was reported to be composed, & Dr: Willis said He was much better than He had Ever yet seen Him - This good Account was afterwards confirmed by Sir Lucas Pepys telling Us, that He had never seen Him better, than He was this morning, since He came to Kew - He related to us two circumstances which had passed at this Interview - The one was that the King had listened to a long & curious Anecdote He had told Him of King William the 3d:/ but which He did not relate to us/ & to which He had attended without interrupting Him, & on its conclusion He remarked, that it was a very curious Anecdote, & that it was singular He had never heard it before - The other was that He had talked to Him of a Quaker who
