It is most singular that on these late Visits the King should in one Quarter be reported to conduct Himself with so much propriety & that [[underline]] after [[/underline]] accounts, should report so much abuse & slight in these conversations respecting the Queen, on the Authority of the King's statement to his Pages-- There are sad features, in a melancholy Picture. [[underline]] Monday Janry. 19th. [[/underline]] The King past a restless night & with only an hour & half's sleep, and this at Intervals. When up He was touchey & particularly with Dr. John Willis, who He told to get out of the room. Doctor John upon this threaten'd Him, if He continued to behave so improperly-- I had intention of riding to Town this morning, but previous to my making my decision, I asked Doctor John Willis if He thought H. My. would either walk, or go out this day. He answered that He thought not, but on recollection He said, it would do Him good to go out if possible, as the day was so fine-- I afterwards met Lady Harcourt who informed me that the King ^ [[addition]] was to go [[/addition]] out to take a walk. I observed to Her that the day was very fine, but that I had very lately understood from Dr John Willis, that his going out was by no means so certain-- On this Lady Harcourt told me, that Doctor Willis had that moment informed Her, that He was to go out. I bowed to this authority, & said I should be ready at a moment whenever called upon. After Breakfast according to my usual custom I retired to the Library, there to wait the Summons of the day--
