I have regretted that I had myself so little opportunity this day, of making my own observations, on all the good I have heard & which I am inclined to believe-- I never want above a few minutes opportunity, to regulate my opinions, as to the King's natural state of mind, or the reverse-- I entertain at this time, an additional hope of a real amendment [[underline]] from a quiet pulse of 74-- [[/underline]] which He had when He went to bed this night, & in calm good humour. This probably may ensure Him a good nights rest, which is much wanted from having been lately much exhausted for want of sleep-- He dozed over [[underline]] Grays Elegy [[/underline]] which He had been reading, just before He went to Bed-- [[underline]] Sunday Janry 18th. [[/underline]] After a quiet night of seven hours sound sleep, the flattering hopes, which Doctor Willis's report so suddenly & so widely spread around yesterday, entirely vanished this morning, & to use The Doctors Expression to General Lascelles [[underline]] "The King was never more disturbed in his life" [[/underline]] He continued in this state during the morning and at times He became violent. He struck one of Willis's men Took up a Chair to throw at another &c &c-- The King in the course of this morning expressed a Wish to see the Queen & the Princesses. He sent to the Princess Royal a Sermon published for the use of some Hospital by the Revd Mr Willis. & He wrote the following address in the Title Page [[underline]] To my ever Dear Daughter Matilda, Governess to Her three younger Sisters"-- [[/underline]] He sent out also the same
