& Compton who saw most of H. My. this day, [[underline]] confirm, [[/underline]] that his behaviour has been more calm & proper, & his manner [[underline]] more like his natural one, [[/underline]] than they have yet seen. [[underline]] Their [[/underline]] better acquaintance [[underline]] with that manner, [[/underline]] & their correct characters I own encourage me to pay more attention to their report, than I could ever to that from Dr. Willis-- This evening after dinner Doctor Willis left our Table & went up stairs, for The Queen who came down directly to the King's Apartment without his having had any previous notice of such Visit-- The first intimation I had of it was from being called out of the Dining Room by Lady Harcourt who in the Passage told me that the Queen desired I would attend in the Antiroom next to The King's Apartments, to prevent any improper people being there, & also to prevent any Listening-- The Queen staid with the King an hour & Ten Minutes-- When She came out She appeared cheerful. Doctor Willis's report of this Interview was that the King had behaved with much affection & Propriety that she had played at Cards (Picquet) with Him, & that not one improper word has Escaped-- Nobody was in the King's Apartment during this Interview but Doctor Willis & his Two Sons-- Sir Lucas Pepys who had been with The King before dinner this day & who likewise after the Queen went away, staid some time with Him, told Doctor Willis, that He had never yet seen H. My. so well as this day--
