& Tully's Offices. These I found for Him, but they were soon returned to the Library-- In the Evening Dr. Reynolds saw the King for some time. Doctor Willis accompanied Him into his Apartment. Dr. Reynolds read a little to Him but it was not easy yet to fix Him long to a subject. I will venture to affirm, from what I saw when I was lately called into H. My.s Apartment, that Doctor Reynolds cannot have had a fair opportunity of judging accurately of the King [[underline]] while Doctor Willis is in the Room. [[/underline]] I have observed (if I may use such Expressions) that there is somewhat [[underline]] of Trick [[/underline]] in his Management. The Willis's have established such controul over Him, that the King Himself manages in some degree his conversation when before them. Dr. Willis always interposes & stops Him, when He is beginning to talk wildly or inconsistently, & thus turns his ideas. It was very plain when Sir Lucas Pepys & myself were in the King's Apartment a few Evenings ago, that whenever Doctor Willis was out of it, The King rambled directly in his usual style, & which altered, as soon as He appeared again. While I was in the Pages room (The Antiroom) this Evening Doctor Willis desired to speak to me in the Library.
