of those, who do not yet go with Ministers-- Doctor Willis told us this morning much of the King's late conversations, which from his report have been collected & marking recollections. Dr John Willis as his father informed us, was to go to Town by the King's desire to call upon the Chancellor "to [[underline]] let him know how well he was for I dare say [[unclear]], he thinks me very bad" [[/underline]]. He gave at this time the name of his groom ^ [[addition]] [[underline]] to Dr Willis's son [[/underline]] [[/addition]] in writing & an order for him to receive his horses while in Town at his stables, & desired he would look at his horses at Pimlico. In the evening I saw H: My: as usual for a short time but without his seeing me. He was talking with good humour & at times very consistently, but he still mixed much in the conversation, which was decidedly wrong. He played several games at Backgammon with Dr Willis & with Dr Reynolds. The [[unclear]] [[unclear]] which most struck me this evening, was his still talking of Lady Pembroke, & singing [[underline]] "I made love to Kate. [[/underline]] His manner was more generally familiar than it certainly would have been, had he been quite himself. He told his page Brown that he was his best servant & in this he was not far wrong but he marred much by immediately tapping [[underline]] Joe [[/underline]] one of Willis's keepers across the breast, & telling him that after Brown he was the best servant he had. With another of his pages
