Expected a Walk & called for his Boots -- & He named Me as the Person He wished should attend Him -- This awkward contre tems threw all in confusion, & a succession of Messages reached Me that the King Expected his Walk-- Sir Lucas Pepys finding that none approved of the dilemma into which He had thus so incautiously involved Us all seem'd to share the unpleasant consequences of it & Sir George Baker was Equally discomposed & puzzled. All thought the Offer proposed had been inconsiderate & rash but thought that faith should be preserved.
