angry & hastily closed the Bed Curtains, & hid Himself from Us. He afterwards shewed Us some Papers He had been writing. One was a Letter to the Duke of Montague the Master of the Horse - Another contained an Order which He wished Us to send to Colonel Balfour of The Welsh Fuzileers, now on the Windsor duty -- The Anxiety with which H.M. pressed Us to forward this Letter induced Me to suspect that its purpose was that He should be assisted by a Military force. H.My. had next recourse to gentle persuasions - He told Genl. Harcourt that He knew He was his Friend, as well as Myself & He added He was sure He would protect his King. The Physicians finding that no impressions were made, & that our long negotiation was likely to prove ineffectual, sent in a letter from Mr Pitt to His Majesty, the purport of which was, that his Physicians having deemed a change of air necessary for his health had urged it most strongly, & that He hoped H.My. would kindly comply with a request thus urged & which He now sent Him from Them. The King on reading this Letter attempted to answer it, but being much agitated, He left off at the first line. General Harcourt & Myself now renewed our Earnest Entreaties; He again became Angry & drawing his Curtains together with great force He ^ [[addition]] [[underline]] again [[/underline]] [[/addition]] hid Himself from Us -- Nothing having in the least to this time, diminished the difficulties H.M. opposed, to Every hint for his removal It was now thought necessary by the Physicians to bring the question to a point, & not to retard it by any further delays On this decision the Four Physicians Enter'd the Kings
