His Majesty on being made acquainted with it was very angry said it was hard -- & gave one of his Pages a smart slap on the face a violence by no means usual to [[underline]] his natural dispositions, & which [[/underline]] indeed throughout this illness in repeated Instances He had maintained. He had however taken some Exception to the Page He now struck, previous to this day, & at this time He did not like He should be in his room, & flurried at the moment by the Order which had controuled Him He struck Him -- The influence of his innate good nature was ^ [[addition]] not [[/addition]] long absent from Him - As He was not permitted to have his Equerries with Him He put Himself to bed soon after - [[underline]] He then called for the same Page, took Him by the hand, and asked his Pardon twenty times. [[/underline]] I own I have hopes this order, will produce good Effects, & if it does in any degree check this strain of increasing loquacity, the good obtained will not be small -- I rejoice to think that it has not made H.My. unhappy, that with much sensibility at first, He said [[underline]] "it was hard" [[/underline]] With respect to [[underline]] Us, [[/underline]] it has brought with it a more decided System & has Established a controul, which in the End I trust will prove tenderness --All Orders which now reach Me are Explicit, & these are regularly signed by proper Authorities -- A regular Roster has also been made out, & signed by the Prince of Wales for the Pages duty, & more hands are brought forward to make this future duties Easier --
