of the conversations of this day have been greater on the whole than yesterday, & give no additional hopes of returning reason, however tho' the amendment has not appeared to Me so great this day as to some others, I still am inclined to beleive that amendment continues in some degree. Within the last 48 hours there has been much sleep, & less [[underline]] agitated [[/underline]] thoughts than there has been, tho' the general turn of thoughts have invariably continued incoherent & rambling; yet the whole system seems altogether more quiet.
