where His Majesty & the Prince of Wales attended by The Duke of Montagu made their respective offerings at The Altar as Knights Companions of The Garter. The Offering consisted in limited Sums -- The King gave Ten Guineas in Gold & Ten shillings in Silver. The Prince gave Five Guineas & Five Shillings -- The Duke of Montagu as other Knights Companions of The Order would have done, gave on this occasion Two Guineas & Two shillings -- These appear odd Sums, but the Offerrings must be in Gold & in Silver --- After Prayers His Majesty left his Stall, & advanced to The Altar with a slow & steady Step, & coming to it, He bowed, & kneeling He gave his Offering into a Gilt Plate held by the Dean of The Chapter, who was attended by one of The Canons of Windsor.
