Jan. 16 Thursday - [[underline]] To the Q.C. -- [[/underline]] The K. talk'd rapidly & violently for 25 hours without intermission, until His nature seemed exhausted, & H:M: fell asleep at ¼11. last night. His sentences were not unconnected, tho His conversation must be suppos'd to be desultory extremely; & we might have reported H:M: to be under Delirium, had He not retain'd His perception in all its keenness - by wch he distinguished accurately the voices of those about Him, & was absolutely unable to be approached and assisted - The King's first sleep, happily, was protracted 3½ hours - and H:M: slept 1¼ hour this morning; but the irritability is still so great as to preclude all means of information beyond what is obvious in His Ms: external appearance - His countenance is flushed & angry and His voice hoarse.
