Nov: 29. Friday-- To His Queen's Council-- The King has pass'd the last 24 hours in a state of great irritability, tho' violent expressions of rage have occur'd only occasionally-- H: M: dined yesterday without so much of His religious ceremony as usual. & slept 3 hours in the course of the afternoon -- but awoke in the same temper, & it was necessary to carry Him to bed, & to undress Him by force. The K: slept 4 hours in the course of the night -- but the same irritability prevails this morning-- & it appear'd to us after having put 2 or 3 questions to H: M: in vain, more prudent to retire, than to risk an increase of excitement by pressing ineffectual attempts at conversation.
