Receipt for Pears for dessert or 2nd Course Put [[underline]] 3, or 4 [[/underline]] doyen of Pears into a very large jar, with a Pint of Port - [[underline]] 2 pds [[/underline]] of Sugar - then just cover the Pears with Water, & bake them in an Oven; - they are in that state fit for use, & will keep months. Wholesome Oregeat take one ounce & a half of sweet blanched almonds, & four bitter ones blanched also, pound them together in a mortar till they are like paste - then mix with them a quarter of an ounce of Gum
