Milk Punch Take [[underline]] 3 doz. good lemons, [[/underline]] [[underline]] 8 quts of Rum or [[/underline]] Brandy - 4 pds of single refined Sugar - pare the Lemons very thin - put the parings, & the Juice, & the spirits all together, let them remain in a jar cover'd close for ten hours - then add [[underline]] 10 [[/underline]] quts of Spring Water - 3 large nutmegs grated very fine - 4 quarts of milk ^ [[addition]] having [[/addition]] put the Milk first in a saucepan over the fire till it is near boiling - then take it off & ^ [[addition]] then add [[/addition]] it to the other things; - cover the whole Ingredients so mixed in a close Vessel for one hour - then strain it thro' a jelly Bag - it will run thick at 1st but must be put back till it runs fine. - Then put it into Bottles, these must be very dry & clean.
