198 Coughs - Throat - Ly Trimblestorn's recpt for a Cough mixture Slice a Lemon in a pint of Water with one Poppy head without the seeds, & [[underline]] 30 [[/underline]] Grains of saffron, boil this alltogether until reduced to half a pint, then strain it off, & add 6 ounces of Sugar Candy & boil it to a syrup, - take of this 3 spoonfuls at bed times & during the day when the Cough is troublesome. - recpt of the duke of Sassen's doctor for the Uvola coming down - Red rose leaves - two drams, infuse them in half a pint of boiling Water for two hours, - then strain it off & add 3 drams of powdered allum & 3 table spoonfuls of Brandy. to gargle -
