[[deletion]] 197 [[/deletion]] Coughs a Saline draught of Syrup of white poppies by putting a desert or teaspoonful of syrup of white poppies into a [[deletion]] little water [[/deletion]] [[addition]] saline draught [[/addition]] sweetened with Sugar Candy, & when ready to drink pour the Lemon Juice in - one whole Lemon not too much. - Dr Vaughan my loved Boy in the measels Febry 1808 and a good cooling opening purcge. is Magnesia in a saline draught to be taken to cleanse from the phlegm occasioned by the Cold & Syrup of poppies. Dr Grey - for my Cough Janry 28th - 1809 Take of Salt of Tartar two scruples Lemon juice .... one ounce Spring Water .... seven ounces - Emetic Tartar .... one Grain & a half Camphorated tincture of opium one dram Syrup of White Poppies half an ounce all mixed together, - & take of this 3 table spoonfuls going to Bed - & one Each time in the day the Cough is troublesome
