195 Coughs Dr Pitcairn for my Girl 1804 - 3 ounces of syrup of White poppies 3 ounces of Syrup of Tolu 7 3 ounces of Dill Water. - Capillaire or any other syrup if Tolu cannot be procured Inspissated juice of Hemlock 2 scruples Extract of White Poppies - 1 scruple mix & divide them into 16 pills, & two to be taken 3 times a day - Dr Pitcairn (1804) before you take the above Pills purge yourself 1st with the following recipe James's Powders 2 Grains Calomel 1 Grain Jalep in powder 6 grains mix & divide them into 2 pills to be taken going to bed if the Cough continues take Inspissated juice of Hemlock 2 scruples Squill pill one scruple mix & divide this into 12 pills & take 2 of these 3 times a day. - Dr Pitcairn's prescription in my long cough of 1804 with the addition of bleeding
