185 Purges for [[deletion]] [[unclear]] [[/deletion]] Coughs Dr Cooke for my Girl 8ber 1807- the infusion of the damask rose [[underline]] 6 [[/underline]] ounces Vitriolated magnesia .... One ounce mix them & take of this four table spoonfuls every 2 or 3 hours until it has given 3 or 4 stools. [[addition]] Take of [[/addition]] Infusion of Senna 14 drachms, Tincture of Senna 2 ^ [[addition]] drachms [[/addition]] Burnt magnesia half a drachm, powdered Rhubarb half a scruple mix them for a draught to be taken directly. Dr Rowley for me xber [[underline]] 25th 1805 [[/underline]] a purge with a Cough proceeding from the stomach take of powdered julup 10 Grains magnesia 12 Grains mix these & take them. this is the purge for my Girl - Dr Rowley xber 25th 1805 for a Cough (not a purge). half a pint of the best white Wine Vinegar (to be had at a Chemist), - a quarter of a pound of the best Virgin Honey, - & one or two ounces ^ [[addition]] what Mrs Lare called 4 penny worth [[/addition]] of paregoric, boiled in an Earthenware pipkin, - till it becomes a syrup.- Sore throat occasioned by the Rernels of the Ears falling from relaxation keep it warm, - rub it much with Hartshorn & Oil, & Spirits of Camphor, - & rubbing it upwards as much as possible.-
