149 Coughs - Colds - Fevers - 2 ounces of Barley 2 ounces of Sliced raisins 2 quarts of Water 1 spoonful of honey, one of Vinegar all boil together till reduced to one quart & take a tea cup full of this when the Cough is troublesome. - For a Cough with hoarseness Oil of sweet almonds - 4 table spoonfuls Clear Water - 10 table spoonfuls Spirits of hartshorn - 70 Drops or 1 teaspoonful Paregoric Elixir - 6 teaspoonfuls mix all these together & if you like add a little simple syrup & take it 4, or 5 times per day.
