125 Coughs for Treasure Dr Rowley May 25th - 1798 - 3 tea spoon fulls of syrup of white poppies 1 tea spoonfull of vinegar of Squils 8 table spoon fulls of water - all mixed together, & a desert spoonfull to be given whenever the cough is troublesome - N.B. When this prescription is given a Child ought not to be feverish, for any kind of opium is dangerous with fever. My Treasure's Coughs often proceed from nervous debility, brought on by an overloaded Stomach - in such cases - a purge is quicker necessary, & may cure him. - one not troublesome- blesome, tho' not proper for common use is a milk made up of two grains of Calomel, & 2 of Rhubarb. - to be taken at night - after he has taken it - he should not
