69. to prevent a miscarriage it is proper to sit upon a Sofa with the feet up, - to take every thing cool, - to take a Cup of Rose Tea [[underline]] 3 [[/underline]] or [[underline]] 4 [[/underline]] times a day & to quiet the pain by taking frequently [[underline]] 5 [[/underline]] or [[underline]] 10 [[/underline]] drops of Laudanum. - Shd it happen it will be necessary to rest several days on the Sofa, & going on in the same manner as after a Lying-in, tho' perhaps in a less strict degree. -- Method to clarify Quills Put an Iron Pot over the fire half full of fine sand, - & make the sand Equally hot all thro', - then put ^ [[insertion]] in [[/insertion]] a bundle of Quills & take them out from time to time to see if they are sufficiently transparent.
