& [[underline]] in 1085 Hildebrand [[/underline]] died an exile at [[underline]] Salerno [[/underline]] His death did not give Henry that peace he sighed for, his Son [[underline]] Conrad in 1090 [[/underline]] at the instigation of [[underline]] Urban II then pope revolted against his Father; he died in [[underline]] 1099 [[/underline]] & so did the pope. The Papal chair in [[underline]] 1101 [[/underline]] was occupied by [[underline]] Paschal II [[/underline]] another Hildebrand, he excited Henry, the 2d. Son of the Emperor to revolt against his Father who used in vain every paternal remonstrance, but the villain hardened in guilt used artifice when force could not prevail, he threw himself at the [[unclear]] of his aged Father, feigned submission until he had disbanded his army, then put the mask aside, bared his perfidious heart, ordered the venerable Emperor into confinement, assembled a diet of his own confederates deposed him, & as instantly proclaimed under the the title of [[underline]] Henry V in 1106. [[/underline]] unfortunately, & wretched [[underline]] Henry the IV surnamed the Great [[/underline]] died at Liege the [[underline]] 7th of August 1106, [[/underline]] he was a prince of gt. talents, & courage, an air of dignity bespoke the greatness of his Soul, his manners were as amiable as his person was
