After many revolutions & many bloody ones, in [[underline]] A.D.912 [[/underline]] the death of [[underline]] Lewis IV [[/underline]] a descendant of Charlemagne, the empire of Germany went from the Carlovingian family into that of those very princes of Saxony that the french had so often subdued, the 1st of these was [[underline]] Conrad I count [[/underline]] of [[underline]] Franconia, [[/underline]] at his death he recommended to the Germanic body as his successor the Duke of [[underline]] Saxony [[/underline]] who was called [[underline]] Henry I [[/underline]] & began his reign in [[underline]] 919, [[/underline]] he was a great prince, lived long, gloriously & happily established his Empire on a firm basis, & dying in [[underline]] 936 [[/underline]] was succeeded by his Son [[underline]] Otho the Great, [[/underline]] & justly so called from his superior abilities as a political, wise, & valiant prince; he was succeeded by his Son [[underline]] Otho II in 974 [[/underline]] this prince was surnamed Sanguinary on account of the wars he was obliged to sustain, He married Theophania daughter to [[underline]] Nicephorus [[/underline]] Emperor of the East. in [[underline]] 989 Otho III [[/underline]] succeeded his father, he was surnamed [[underline]] the wonder, [[/underline]] from the valor, activity & wisdom of his administration, after a glorious reign he died poisoned in Italy by the concubine of Crescentius who wanted to be elected Pope,
