To doubt, to feel you ought to suspend your Judgement, to waver when you wish to dicide, is the natural sensation of one who knows what a small share of the knowledge of human nature is the lot of even the most observing -- To doubt, painful pause of the Soul - it will teach us far greater quantum of benevolence, & the milk of kindness may flow more abundantly -- I am too apt to Judge with needless precaution & an overstrained rigour --- After all what are we -- a jumble of good & bad - strange complex machines - even the children of iniquity ought to feel the effects of our love --'tis the fascination of deep misery draws
