[[underline]] by Mr Owen [[/underline]] My first's a name that bards bestow On him who rules the World below Who (if the Elder Sages knew) Dispenses warmth & physic too; And as he nurtures herbs & Sallads Gives birth to Sons, & Odes, & ballads. -- My next's a thing that most obey A Sov reign of extended sway; O'er mighty cheifs his pow'r obtains And monarch's wear his Vassal chains Deep in the mine his pow'r is known He fills an undisputed throne, Assumes the ruby's paler gleam And Di'monds own him their supreme And tho' he rule o'er many hearts He deigns to act in meaner parts With chang'd attire he has been seen To trim with spade the rustic green
