That we do not deserve such indignities from mankind your Ladysp. need not be informed as without us no purpose can be effected, 'tis to us the miser is indebted for the acquisition of his gold, & the man of reputation for his fame 'tis by us that plans are realized, & counsel refin'd into action, & there have been periods in the lives of Men in which one of us could not be purchased too dearly. We would therefore recommend it to men to treat us with greater respect for their own sakes; - & we do not beleive that we could point out an example more recommendatory of our own excellencies than that of yr. Ladysp's, whose acquaintance with us tho' of no long standing has been so productive; nor will we omit to mention the resemblance between your parent & our own whose exertions are equally employed to render ^[[addition]] us [[/addition]] ornaments & advantages to Society; We
