What is Prudery? Tis a Bildam Seen with sense of beauty seldom. 'Tis a fear that starts at shadows 'Tis, (no, 'tisn't like Miss Meadows. 'Tis a virgin hard of features, Old & void of all good nature; Lean, & fretful; would seem wise; Yet plays the fool before she dies: 'Tis an ugly envious shrew, That rails [[underline]] at beauty, love, [[/underline]] & You. In part superior what advantage lies Tell (for you can) what is it to be wise? 'Tis but to know how little can be known To see all other's faults, & feel our own Condemn'd in bus'ness, or in arts to drudge Without a second, or without a grudge. Truths would you teach or save a sinking land All fear, none aid you, & few understand. Painful pre eminence! Yourself to view Above life's weakness, & its comforts too.
