If worth departed ever claim'd the tear That pity drops o'er all that love holds dear, Each feeling breast will heave the pensive sigh And weep with me where X X relicks lie: Nor think that partial fondness guides my train. For her I mourn whose heav'n born soul possest Each grace that dignifies the human breast. With pious care each solemn vow she paid That all devotions holy shrine was made. And tho' religion had not pow'r to save It gently smooth'd the horrors of the grave. By virtue guided thro' the path of life - The duteous daughter & the faithful wife; And in her soul approving heav'n combin'd The tend'rest parent & the warmest freind: Gentle & kind; benevolent her heart; Cheerful each ready blessing to impart; To feel for others sorrows, & to share The widow's tear, & hear the orphan's pray'r. Ah me would not the ruthless tyrant move When love & freindship both united strove.
