How strangely does capricious human nature administer to its own torment. to day I am pleased at what would have made me miserable a short time ago; from that let me learn to submit all to a superior & wiser direction, & when I can't unriddle let me [[underline]] learn to trust. [[/underline]] I often [[underline]] think myself over [[/underline]] particularly when any disagreeable circumstance has happened to me, & I find, I believe that I am one of those very common characters, just foolish & weak enough to act wrong on an unforseen or severe trial, & just wise enough & virtuous enough to feel incessant remorse for having done so. -
