Riddle A medley of splendor love; labor & crosses I spread nothing around me but triumphs or losses Like the seasons in four varied shapes I appear And my numbers can vie with the weeks in the year Yet time I'm a foe to, and kill him; tho' he Will one day or other destroy even me. From the fairest I'm [[unclear]] to the foulest of hands And of virtue or vice I obey the commands, By me a crown'd head often yeilds to a Knave And fortunes I [[underline]] give, tho' no fortune [[/underline]] I have. Many Men my first do take Chiefly for my seconds sake But when they both together are 'Tis hard for mortal Man to bear.
