For hark along the hedge, the early birds Amid the purling rivulets plaintive voice Preparing all to hail the god of Joy, With grateful carrol, & exulting hymn; And now the lark suspended on the wing In air sublime, warbles his tuneful lay And sweetly lengthens out, each joyous note, Charming with with soft delight the list'ning ear -- Sweet bird that celebrates the rising morn Enraptur'd while I hear they swelling strains With thee I'll soar, and mix with thine my song, Meanwhile at distance hear the bird of brass Perputual harbinger of Day's approach In louder notes proclaims returning morn Throughout the village, while from farm to farm The strain'd response is heard the Country round, But while I sing the rosy goddess spreads Her deeper blushes, o'er the easter sky Ringing with [[underline]] purple half th'ethereal arch.
