For wil'd in flowers, or fruits of richest die The subtlest poisons, frequent lurking lie. The sable eye, clad in perpetual smiles Like night shades treach'rous berry oft beguiles; The cherry lips, the bosom's snowdrop veil, may combining malice, envy's glooms conceal; But figs, and gapes of picky adorn Tho thriftless thistle, no ungrateful thorn. What eye unflush'd with rapture,can behold Bright Murray, form'd in natures finish'd mould. Prostrate that finish'd form towards humble Earth 'Tinvoke that pow'r that gave her beauties birth! While other nymph's of far inferior charms Whose wayward bosoms vain ambitious warms In dull pursuits the sacred moments waste To deck those vagrant charms that cannot last Or Seize invention, with uncertain aim To chase a shadow or to purchase shame.
