[[underline]] natural history [[/underline]] gives an account of all the plants, animals, & minerals that are to be found in the World; [[underline]] mataphysics [[/underline]] or the natural history of the mind gives an account of the dispositions, faculties, & operations of feeling & thinking Beings; [[underline]] Chemistry [[/underline]] investigates the minute qualities of Bodies as they appear in their repulsions & combinations; -- [[underline]] Astronomy [[/underline]] Enquires into the magnitude & movements of the Celestial Bodies, --but [[underline]] morality [[/underline]] differing from all these (which sciences are employed in finding out facts & representing things as they are) ought to Exhibit to our view, not what men have done, but what they ought to do, --not what they are, but what they ought to be, --morality inshort is that branch of Science, which proposes to regulate the ^ [[addition]] actions [[/addition]] of men.
