Mr Pitt speaking of Bonaparte (Monday the 24th April, on Mr Fox's Motion on the defence of the Country) says We ought not to treat with contempt, -- or with a false security, pronounce impracticable, -- the project of a bold, enterprising, & desperate, -- tho' often fortunate enemy, & one too, who never stood in the way of good [[underline]] fortune, by [[/underline]] the dread of bad. in the same speech talking of the [[addition]] ^ spirit of the [[/addition]] Volunteers & the [[addition]] ^ incapacity of [[/addition]] Ministers, he says -- A Spirit, -- which as the Ministers own, far outries their calculations & hopes, -- and also, -- as it has seemed, -- exceeded their [[underline]] powers of direction. -- [[/underline]]
