when he is on happy moad, he has a roguishness & neatness in his wit extremely fascinating, his expressions which he throws out with singular point are entirely his own, & direct his ideas into the minds of his auditors exactly as they rise-- The research into yr heart agitates me equally with hope & fear & seldom leads me to any real, or settled opinion --whoever thinks long & seriously & anxiously upon any subject, which there are no certain means to elucidate will form various conclusions -- to the review of yr feelings towards me, I am doomed to come, as to that of every other subject, with much destruction from the prejudice of the moment & much weakness of human reason.--
