given to those said Chiefs and Officers, according to their respective Ranks and to be worn by them as a mark of Honor equal to a degree of a Knight. But altho this Rank of Knighthood is considered by the Courts of Europe as a high distinction (to the wearer) and consequently they do not allow an Order of it given by another Court to be worn by their people or to be considered as any distinction without an especial [[unclear]] according to their Rules and Regulations, the Court of England out of her extreme kind friendship regard and consideration towards the Sublime Port allows this Order of Knighthood to be worn in the Country by those to whom H.I.M. has been pleased to give it with the consent of the revered Majesty the King of England.
