Altenstein. Sepr: 6th: 1826. Dear Sir, Last Sunday at Weimar I received Yours of 21st Augst: and was naturally so hurried there I could not then write. I returned here last night and now acknowledge your letter and its' various enclosures. I return the proper papers signed. I hope Augustus is going on quietly if not usefully. I found a letter on my arrival here from George announcing the accident you alluded to in your letter. Thank God it was no worse. I find it was the Guardsman who committed this act of negligence.
