Dear Daniell, Yours No: 18 has this moment reached me and I return as usual the enclosures signed: and as I had occasion to write a few words to Coates on the Farm Journals I have added my advice which you will send to him: I hope he will be wise enought to follow [[underline]] our [[/underline]] admonition and I trust Elphick will continue steady: I have [[underline]] no [[/underline]] opinion of Allen but [[underline]] nothing [[/underline]] positive [[underline]] can [[/underline]] be proved [[underline]] against [[/underline]] him: I am afraid Sir Abraham Hume Sir John Leicester and Mr Haulilon act too close for [[underline]] real [[/underline]] elegance: but the imposition and impudence of Allen are very serious: [[underline]] watch [[/underline]] him minutely: [[underline]] time [[/underline]] and [[underline]] patience [[/underline]] will bring all round: the state of the Dutchess is the most important point at the present moment
