1250. On the death of Frederick 2d/ his Son Conrad 4th/ already King of the Romans, was acknowledged Emperor by the Ghibelins, while the Guelphs supported the Claim of William of Holland whom they had chosen. Italy & Germany were torn by civil war. Conrad died of poison administered to him by his illegitimate Brother Mainfroi. in 1254.
