Wash to prevent the hands from Chapping - A Pound of Barley ^ [[addition]] boiled [[/addition]] in some Water and then thrown off, then five quarts of fresh Water put to it, whisk on to boil until they are reduced to three quarts, half a pound of bitter Almonds pounded [[underline]] fine [[/underline]]. Two Ounces of Camphize, and a little of Spermacity pounded ^ [[addition]] fine [[/addition]] also, mix these well together and when the Barley water is quite cold pour it by degrees upon the other ingredients, Strain it thro' a sieve, & Bottle it, shake the stuff when used, & put it in a cool place, only keeping out a certain quantity for immediate use -
