I had a letter from Col.l. Elliot dated the 27th of July desiring me to hold myself in hourly readiness to join him.That I should hear from him the moment he heard from Lord Uxbridge, to whom he had sent my name for approval, [[underline]] That post [[/underline]] since which, I have never heard a word, but another vacancy, has occur'd.
