Formidable Wednesday Eve 10th April 1782 my dear Sir Many thanks for your kind advice. you may perceive my opinion coincides with yours by our endeavours today, I have ordered Mr drake to lead with a plain sail tonight, but I perceive de Grasse is unwilling to decide the affair in these Seas. I am sorry for Bayne, but own I was hurt, at seeing him fire at such a distance, poor fellow he is gone, and as I promised Capt. Symons the first ship that became vacant, he must have the Alfred and Lord Cranstoun the Formidable--Bourchier you may b e sure shall soon be post, but vashon must be before him--It gives me real pleasure to hear, by Bourchier, that the great fatigue you have undergone has not injured your Health may you long continue to enjoy it, is the sincere wish of my dear friend yours most affectionately GB Rodney Sir Samuel Hood Barf.
