It was not till late last Night that I saw lady Dashwood & Miss Garth else I should have wrote sooner to You my dearest Son, [[deletion]] to order that inf [[/deletion]] Lady Harewood had left Her in the Country which the Uncle was unacquainted with, & it is owing to this mistake that we could not take any Step before. I find Miss Garth pleasing in Her Manner; Sensible in Her Conversation, extremely diffident. Fearfull in not answering the good oppinion of Her Friends, But very desirous to do every thing in Her power to give Satisfaction & to deserve Yr Aprobation. I told Her that Her Situation would Confine Her much, & as She never had been much in the World, nor ever been so Situated as to make any Connexions, it was a Place [[deletion]] that [[/deletion]] which must suit Her. That at Yr return to Town, She would receive Yr orders, & that I insisted upon Her keeping strictly to every rule laid down in the Nursery, which of Course ldy Dashwood Would by Yr Order give Her in writing, & that You would sighn them. & that that Paper must at all Times be remembered by Her & serve as a determinate answer to any tryals that might be made to persuade Her of deviating from them.
